The Opportunity

The Mechanical Division is positioned for growth. The product lines are strong. The reputation is established. The opportunity in the Saskatchewan market is real. The Mechanical Division Manager is not simply overseeing sales activity, they are shaping the direction, performance, and culture of an entire division. This is a role for a builder. A leader who understands that market share is earned through strategy, relationships, accountability, and a team that is aligned behind a common goal.

 

In this role, you operate at both the 30,000-foot level and on the ground. You work with executive leadership to shape annual budgets, expansion plans, and competitive strategy. At the same time, you remain connected to the daily rhythm of the business, guiding bid strategy, strengthening contractor and engineering relationships, mentoring sales representatives, and ensuring projects move forward with precision and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

As the Mechanical Division Manager, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Leadership & Team Development

  • Develop, inspire, and motivate the mechanical division team.
  • Set clear annual divisional goals and ensure alignment across the team.
  • Define roles and responsibilities to ensure accountability and clarity.
  • Train or support the training of outside sales representatives, project managers, and sales support staff.
  • Facilitate manufacturer factory and training visits to strengthen team capability.
  • Conduct annual retention and development discussions with each team member.
  • Foster a division first mindset, while supporting overall office success above individual division priorities.

 

2. Sales Strategy & Market Growth

  • Develop and execute plans to grow business and expand market share in collaboration with the Branch Manager and Regional Vice President.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with mechanical contractors and key industry stakeholders.
  • Support the engineering community to ensure represented products are specified or approved equals.
  • Lead the strategy and quoting of large projects.
  • Review Construction Association opportunities and assign projects appropriately within the team.
  • Meet established annual sales quotas.
  • Negotiate and secure purchase orders.

 

3. Quotation, Tendering & Project Oversight

  • Collaborate with the mechanical division team on take offs, pricing, and tender preparation.
  • Ensure all quotations are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Develop overall bid strategy to position the division for success.
  • Issue purchase orders to manufacturers and release equipment for production.
  • Oversee or support submittal drawing package preparation.
  • Lead weekly (or daily, as required) project review meetings.
  • Visit job sites when required to resolve project challenges.

 

4. Cross Divisional & Executive Collaboration

  • Work closely with other division managers to ensure coordinated strategy and communication across the office.
  • Contribute to an overall office first mindset.
  • Collaborate with leadership to expand and strengthen the mechanical equipment offering.
  • Work with the Branch Manager and Regional Vice President to prepare annual divisional budgets.

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

The Essentials (Hard Skills):

  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience, preferably within the mechanical or construction industry
  • EIT, P.Eng., C.E.T., or M.E.T. designation required. A Bachelor of Commerce degree may be considered with relevant industry experience
  • Strong understanding of HVAC mechanical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Experience with project-based sales cycles, tendering, and take offs
  • Proven ability to negotiate and secure purchase orders
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
