The Opportunity

As the Sales Agronomist, you’ll be a partner in your client’s success, building relationships that will last decades. You’ll inherit a well-established customer base with room to grow, supported by a collaborative team that values independence and authenticity over hierarchy and red tape. In a role where relationships matter as much as results, you will be the person your customers call when they need advice, when the weather turns or when they are planning next season’s crops. You’ll be out in the field most days, visiting farms, walking fields, diagnosing issues, and helping producers make informed, profitable decisions.

Key Responsibilities

As the Sales Agronomist you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1.      Customer Relationships & Agronomy

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with producers to understand their operational goals and provide effective agronomic support.
  • Conduct field scouting, soil and crop assessments, and deliver data-driven recommendations on seed, fertilizer, and crop protection products.
  • Provide technical guidance and product knowledge to assist producers in making informed agronomic and purchasing decisions.
  • Manage an established customer portfolio while identifying and developing new business opportunities within the trade area.

2.      Sales & Business Growth

  • Develop and execute sales plans that align with seasonal requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Use the CRM platform daily to document client interactions, track opportunities, and maintain an accurate pipeline.
  • Identify market opportunities and contribute to strategies that drive customer acquisition and retention.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless coordination of product supply, pricing, and customer service.

3.      Field & Operational Support

  • Represent the organization professionally within the assigned territory, which includes Broadview, Grenfell, Kipling, Whitewood, Moosomin, and surrounding areas.
  • Manage time effectively between fieldwork and office-based activities, approximately 80% in-field during the growing season and 50% during off-season.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture that emphasizes communication, accountability, and customer satisfaction.


Qualifications

As the Sales Agronomist, you will possess the following qualities:

The Essentials (Hard Skills):

  • Post-secondary education in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • CCA Designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Western Canadian agriculture, ideally in agronomy, ag retail, or crop input sales.
  • Strong technical understanding of crop protection products, including seed, fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze field data, make agronomic recommendations, and translate technical insights into customer solutions.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel extensively within the service area.
