The Opportunity  
This position offers a rare level of stability in a field mechanic role, with consistent weekday hours, no out-of-town travel, and the balance of being home every night. Each day brings variety as you begin with a morning safety meeting before moving into hands-on diagnostics, field repairs, and collaboration with operators to plan maintenance around production needs. 
Working locally in Calgary from a fully equipped service truck that stays on site, you’ll take on steady, meaningful work that is essential to keeping operations safe, reliable, and productive. As you help build the role from the ground up, you’ll work independently while being supported by a strong and collaborative maintenance network.
Key Responsibilities  
As the Field Technician/Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:
1.      Equipment Maintenance & Field Service
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on yellow iron, trucks, and trailers.
- Perform preventative maintenance and field repairs from a fully equipped service truck, ensuring work meets OEM and company standards.
-  Test and verify equipment performance after service to maintain reliability and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized service truck and workspace in alignment with 5S standards.
2.      Safety, Documentation & Compliance
- Adhere to all company and regulatory safety procedures, including proper PPE use and lock-out/tag-out protocols.
- Complete accurate digital work orders, inspections, and maintenance logs through the company’s service management system.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and contribute to a proactive, safety-first culture.
3.      Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with the Calgary Operations team to prioritize maintenance needs and minimize downtime.
- Communicate effectively with operators, maintenance coordinators, and third-party vendors to ensure smooth workflow and timely repairs.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and help build a strong, service-focused maintenance presence in Calgary.
Qualifications  
As the Field Technician/Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will possess the following qualities:
The Essentials (Hard Skills):
- Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification, or equivalent education and field experience.
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair yellow iron, trucks, and trailers, including strong hydraulic system.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and field repairs using a service truck.
- Comfortable using digital maintenance software and completing electronic work orders accurately.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract and ability to travel locally within Calgary as required.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift or move parts and tools up to 50 lbs.
