The Opportunity

Every successful mechanical project begins long before equipment reaches the job site. It starts with conversations, relationships, and the technical confidence that contractors and engineers place in the people behind the products.

As the Mechanical Equipment Sales Representative, you are at the center of that process. You work alongside engineers to secure specifications and partner with mechanical contractors to develop smart, competitive bid strategies. Internally, you collaborate with estimators, project managers, and leadership to ensure each opportunity is approached with clarity and purpose. Externally, you serve as a trusted advisor, providing technical insight and responsive support from quotation through project close out.

From reviewing drawings and preparing take offs to negotiating purchase orders and resolving site challenges, you stay engaged throughout the lifecycle of a project. You understand that success is not just about winning work, it is about delivering on commitments and building lasting industry relationships.

This is a role for someone who thrives on momentum, values accountability, and enjoys blending technical depth with strategic sales execution to drive meaningful results.

Key Responsibilities

As the Mechanical Equipment Sales Representative, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Sales and Relationship Development

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with mechanical contractors, engineers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Promote and position represented HVAC mechanical equipment to secure specifications and project opportunities.
  • Support the engineering community to ensure products are specified as basis of design or approved equals.
  • Meet or exceed established annual sales quotas.
  • Negotiate and secure purchase orders.

2. Quotation, Tendering and Strategy

  • Review Construction Association projects and identify opportunities aligned with division strategy.
  • Participate in take offs, pricing, and preparation of tenders and quotations.
  • Collaborate with division leadership to determine pricing and bid strategy for large projects.
  • Ensure all quotations are complete and submitted on time.
  • Contribute to overall division strategy to maximize win probability and market share.

3. Project Coordination and Execution

  • Issue purchase orders to manufacturers and release equipment for production.
  • Support or oversee equipment submittal drawing package preparation
  • Participate in weekly, or daily as required, project review meetings.
  • Visit job sites when necessary to resolve project issues.
  • Work cross functionally with other divisions to support tendering, project execution, and customer relationships.

4. Technical Expertise and Internal Collaboration

  • Interpret and review construction drawings and specifications.
  • Attend manufacturer training and factory visits to stay current on product developments.
  • Support training initiatives within the division, assisting project managers and estimators as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely communication with customers via phone and email.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

The Essentials (Hard Skills):

  • Proven ability to negotiate and close purchase orders.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.

The Intangibles (Soft Skills):

  • Results focused, competitive, and motivated to grow market share.

What Our Client Offers
