Position Title: Human Resources Consultant
Location: Saskatoon-based (Primarily Remote - Regular In-person Client Visits and Events)
Employment Type: Part-Time (20-30 hours/week)
About Us
At Hughes Collective, we believe HR isn’t just about policies and checklists, it’s about transformation. We partner with organizations across industries to design intentional people strategies, build engaged cultures, and create clarity where there’s complexity. Hughes Collective is a bold, people-first consultancy changing how organizations grow, through strategic hiring, standout branding, and razor-sharp business insights. We blend recruitment, employer branding, marketing, HR, and advisory services into one agile, powerhouse collective.
Our team is bold, collaborative, and strategic, but we’re not afraid to roll up our sleeves to get the work done. One day we might be reimagining an organization’s structure at the boardroom table, and the next we’re drafting a policy that actually makes sense for real people.
If you thrive on variety, bring creative energy to everything you touch, and believe people and storytelling are the heartbeat of a brand, you’ll feel right at home here.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a part-time HR Consultant who thrives on impact, variety, and meaningful work. This is not your typical in-house HR role.
You’ll work as an embedded partner with our clients, helping them navigate growth, change, and sometimes messy people challenges. You’ll balance strategic planning with hands-on execution, ensuring that every solution is practical, people-centered, and built to last.
This role is based in Saskatoon, but the city is your office. Your home is your base, but regularly you'll be out in the world: visiting clients, solving people problems, and helping Hughes Collective show up loud and proud.
What You’ll Do
As an HR Consultant, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:
Client Experience & Support
At Hughes Collective, every client touchpoint is an opportunity to build trust, loyalty, and a little bit of magic. In this role, you’ll help us deliver a best-in-class experience, through thoughtful gestures, operational precision, and seamless behind-the-scenes support that makes our team (and our clients) feel taken care of.
- Join key client meetings to capture sharp, actionable notes, track next steps, and ensure our team delivers with consistency and clarity
- Support the planning and execution of client meetings, workshops, and in-person events, ensuring logistics and little touches are always on point
- Keep client records current and organized in our CRM and internal trackers, ensuring the entire team can move with confidence and visibility
- Help monitor client satisfaction, gather informal feedback, and flag any issues early, so we can course-correct quickly and strengthen relationships
- Be the behind-the-scenes magic: anticipating needs, solving problems before they surface, and helping create those unforgettable “wow” moments that make Hughes Collective stand out
Collaboration & Growth
At Hughes Collective, mindset is a non-negotiable. A positive, solutions-focused, team-first approach is the foundation of everything we do.
- Work closely with recruiters, consultants, and creatives across projects
- Pitch in where needed, whether that’s helping prep for a strategy session, reviewing a job ad, or supporting an event
- Bring curiosity, confidence, and care to every challenge
- Receive ongoing feedback, support, and development opportunities tailored to your strengths and goals
- We don’t expect you to know everything from day one, but we do expect you to show up with initiative, openness, and the desire to grow.
Strategic HR Advisory
- Partner with executives and leadership teams to understand business objectives and align HR strategies accordingly.
- Provide trusted guidance on organizational structure, talent strategy, and culture.
- Support clients through periods of growth, transition, and change with clear plans and thoughtful communication.
Policy, Process & Compliance
- Draft, refine, and implement policies that are clear, compliant, and human.
- Conduct audits and identify gaps in HR frameworks, recommending practical solutions.
- Ensure clients remain compliant with employment legislation and best practices across multiple jurisdictions.
Employee Experience & Engagement
- Design and facilitate employee engagement initiatives that uncover insights and drive action.
- Support clients in building cultures that are inclusive, high-trust, and strategically aligned.
- Coach leaders on how to communicate with clarity and empathy.
Operational Execution
- Roll up your sleeves and get into the details, whether it’s updating job descriptions, creating onboarding frameworks, or supporting investigations.
- Manage multiple client projects simultaneously, maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail.
- Adapt quickly to different organizational contexts, industries, and leadership styles.
Who You Are
As an HR Consultant, you will bring:
Hard Skills
- A strong foundation in HR practices, employment standards, and policy development.
- Solid working knowledge of Saskatchewan employment law, with a preference for candidates who are comfortable advising across multiple provinces.
- Experience in advisory, consulting, or senior HR roles with exposure to multiple organizations or industries.
- Proven ability to design and implement HR strategies that drive tangible results.
- Exceptional written communication skills including policies, frameworks, and presentations are second nature.
Soft Skills
- Strategic thinker who can translate big ideas into actionable plans.
- Relationship builder who earns trust quickly and navigates sensitive conversations with professionalism and empathy.
- Adaptable, resourceful, and able to thrive in environments where no two days look the same.
- Confident facilitator and communicator, comfortable with executives and employees alike.
- Detail-obsessed but never loses sight of the bigger picture.
What We Offer
- A flexible, primarily remote role with regular in-person touchpoints across Saskatoon
- Purpose-driven work with clients who are building great businesses
- A creative, collaborative team that values trust, initiative, and humour
- Real opportunities to grow your career in HR practice and strategy
- Mileage reimbursement for client visits and events
- Competitive compensation and benefits package
