The Opportunity

In this leadership role, you have the chance to lead on the ground, in the office and with clients. As Operations Manager, you are the central connection point between it all; setting the day’s priorities with the dispatcher, checking that equipment is ready to roll, and keeping clients in the loop with clear, confident updates. Your decisions keep projects on track, your leadership supports the team, and your impact will be felt in a company scaling for the future. Key Responsibilities

As the Operations Manager, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1.      Operational Leadership

  • Oversee the dispatcher, transport supervisor, and field staff/drivers, ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly.
  • Set daily priorities, direct dispatch activities, and step in when workload spikes demand additional support.
  • Balance immediate strategic needs with long-term process improvements to drive efficiency and growth.

2.      Client & Communication Management

  • Act as the central bridge between office and field, ensuring clarity and alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive updates and professional, timely communication.
  • Address escalations calmly and constructively, reinforcing trust with both clients and staff.

3.      Fleet & Equipment Oversight

  • Coordinate equipment scheduling, placement, and readiness for upcoming jobs.
  • Track certifications, inspections, and safety requirements to maintain compliance.
  • Partner with maintenance providers to ensure trucks and trailers are serviced, safe, and operational.

4.      Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of dispatchers, supervisors, and field staff, setting expectations and ensuring accountability.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, positivity, and resilience, where teams thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.


Qualifications

As the Operations Manager, you will possess the following qualities: 

The Essentials (Hard Skills): 

  • Background in heavy haul and earthworks transport, with the technical knowledge to plan and execute complex moves safely and efficiently.
  • An understanding of over-dimensional freight, axle weight compliance, and permitting processes at provincial and federal levels.
  • Experience managing dispatchers, drivers, and supervisors, with the ability to translate field realities into operational strategies.
  • Adept at scheduling, planning, and balancing multiple priorities, keeping operations smooth and efficient.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and capable of leveraging tools to improve planning, reporting, and communication.
  • A valid or historically held 1A Driver’s License adds valuable perspective from hands-on industry experience.
