The Opportunity

Safety is at the heart of everything Denison does. As the company continues to advance its northern Saskatchewan projects, maintaining a strong safety culture is essential to delivering work safely, responsibly, and efficiently.

As the Health & Safety Coordinator, you'll be a trusted resource for employees, contractors, and site leadership, helping bring health and safety programs to life in the field. From onboarding new personnel and coordinating training to conducting inspections, supporting emergency preparedness, and coaching teams on safe work practices, you'll play an important role in ensuring everyone goes home safely every day.

Key Responsibilities

As a Health & Safety Coordinator, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Safety Program Coordination & Administration

• Coordinate health and safety orientations and onboarding for employees and contractors.
• Schedule and track required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation, records, and performance metrics.
• Support the continuous improvement of health and safety programs, procedures, and initiatives.

2. Field Safety & Compliance

• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, field observations, and risk assessments.
• Identify hazards and work with site teams to implement effective corrective actions.
• Ensure work activities comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Promote proactive hazard identification and safe work behaviours throughout site operations.

3. Incident Prevention & Emergency Preparedness

• Participate in incident investigations and corrective action follow-up.
• Support emergency response planning and site preparedness activities.
• Coordinate emergency drills and readiness exercises.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to reduce workplace risk before incidents occur.

4. Safety Leadership & Employee Engagement

• Coach employees and contractors on safe work practices and expectations.
• Build positive working relationships with site leadership and field personnel.
• Promote a strong, collaborative safety culture where everyone is empowered to speak up.
• Encourage continuous improvement through education, communication, and engagement.

Qualifications

As the Health & Safety Coordinator, you will possess the following qualities:

The Essentials (Hard Skills):

• Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent professional certification.
• 3–5 years of health and safety experience in mining, construction, or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
• Experience conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
• Experience coordinating orientations, safety training, and certification tracking.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and health & safety management systems.
• Eligibility to work in Canada.
