Position Title: Cost Controller

Location: Saskatoon, SK

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday

Our Client

PBN Construction is more than a construction company. Proudly Indigenous-owned, PBN has grown from a northern-focused operation into a diversified, Saskatchewan-based organization with a strong and expanding footprint across the province. From large-scale earthworks to complex, multi-million-dollar infrastructure and mining support projects, PBN is known for reliability, safety, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Beyond traditional construction, PBN plays a critical role in supporting mining operations, delivering project management, site supervision, underground construction, maintenance, and heavy equipment operation. Their teams work where the action is: in high-performance, industrial environments that demand precision, safety, and teamwork.

At the core of PBN’s success is a culture rooted in accountability, continuous improvement, and pride in craftsmanship. If you’re a skilled trades professional who values safety, respects the work, and takes ownership of doing the job right, you’ll fit right in.

The Opportunity

Every major construction project has moving parts, crews, equipment, subcontractors, material, timelines, and behind all of it is one key question: Are we on track financially?

PBN Construction is looking for a Cost Controller who knows how to bring clarity to complex project data. In this role, you’ll be the person who keeps a sharp eye on project financial health, ensuring costs are tracked properly, coded accurately, forecasted intelligently, and reported

consistently.

This is not a passive role. You’ll work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Finance to monitor budget performance, identify cost risks early, assess the impacts of project changes, and support decision-making with real-time insight.

If you’re the type of person who loves numbers, sees patterns others miss, and takes pride in clean, accurate reporting, this is your chance to be a key driver in how projects stay profitable, efficient, and controlled.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Project Coordinator, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Cost Tracking & Project Controls

  • Manage and maintain project cost codes and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) structures.
  • Ensure all labour, equipment, materials, subcontractor, and overhead costs are accurately coded, tracked, and allocated.
  • Support consistent, standardized cost control processes across projects.

2. Forecasting, Reporting & Financial Analysis

  • Monitor financial performance including budget vs. actuals, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare cost reports, cash flow projections, and earned value metrics for management review.
  • Support development and ongoing management of project budgets and cost-loaded schedules.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.

3. Risk, Change Management & Decision Support

  • Identify and communicate cost risks, overruns, and savings opportunities.
  • Assess project changes and support effective change management processes.
  • Provide analysis that supports informed decision-making across project leadership teams.
  • Prepare and present regular cost, variance, productivity, and trend reports.

4. Month-End Reviews & Data Integrity

  • Support monthly cost reviews and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure financial data integrity and compliance with internal controls and audit standards.
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality across reporting systems and project documentation.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost control or project controls (civil construction or earthworks preferred).
  • Proven experience managing cost codes and WBS structures on large, complex projects.
  • Strong proficiency in cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of earned value management principles.
  • Strong understanding of civil earthworks activities such as excavation, grading, hauling, utilities, and infrastructure works.
  • Experience working on multi-million-dollar construction projects.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

What Our Client Offers

  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive health, drug, and dental benefits (50% employer paid / 50% employee paid)
  • Life Insurance, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability coverage
  • Employee & Family Assistance Program
  • The opportunity to grow within a respected and expanding Saskatchewan construction organization
