Role Summary:  

The VP Philanthropy’s role is to lead and support philanthropic campaigns, grow the support form philanthropic and corporate foundations, expand the Foundation’s annual philanthropic donor base, launch corporate sponsorships and increase volunteerism, and other resources in support of its mission.   


Responsibilities include: 

  • Identify strategies and tactics and build relationships with supporters to achieve campaign fundraising goals, generate revenues, increase grants of support, sponsorships, volunteerism, and recurring revenue
  • Work cross-functionally to create proposals, materials, stories, and events relevant to Development
  • Support a circle of champions and influencers who will help promote and inspire charitable giving to the Foundation
  • Create great experiences for contributors so that they continue to contribute
  • Ensure that donors are kept engaged and experience the results of their philanthropy
  • Create a strategy for Philanthropy and contribute to the Foundation’s broader Strategic Plan
  • Create operational plans and budgets to implement strategies
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage team members
  • Build efficiency through systems and processes relevant to Philanthropy
  • Review policies relevant to Philanthropy (such as Gift Acceptance Policy) and establish appropriate policies and controls to ensure compliance with CRA, privacy, and other regulations and policies
  • Implement and maintain ongoing reporting of key metrics and analysis to monitor revenue results and to allow timely modifications to campaigns and processes as necessary
  • Build a culture of philanthropy in the Foundation and carry out training for board members, staff and volunteers as needed

 

Requirements  

  • At least 10 years of philanthropic experience and 7 years as a senior leader
  • Proven experience and success with a myriad of fundraising approaches including campaigns, corporate and foundation giving, major individual gifts, and donor circles.
  • A proven track record of success and innovation
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.com or a similar CRM
  • A second language is considered an asset
  • Experience in leading marketing resources is an asset and may allow for expansion of the role’s responsibilities


Benefits: 

  • Salary range: $140,000 to $175,000.
  • Work format: Hybrid, with a requirement of two days in the Foundation’s Vancouver office and the option for additional days at your discretion and as workflows dictate.
