NICU Specialist

The ideal candidate will have specialized training and clinical expertise in the care of critically ill newborns in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This role requires proficiency in neonatal resuscitation, management of premature and high-risk infants, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes for neonates. 


Responsibilities

● Provide expert medical care to newborns in the NICU, including premature infants and those with complex medical conditions.

● Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilize newborns requiring intensive care immediately after birth.

● Diagnose and manage conditions common in newborns, such as respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal infections, and congenital anomalies.

● Coordinate and oversee the administration of specialized treatments, including respiratory support, parenteral nutrition, and medication management.

● Monitor and interpret diagnostic tests, such as blood gases, x-rays, and ultrasounds, to assess neonatal health status and response to treatment.

● Educate parents and families about neonatal conditions, treatment options, and post-discharge care plans.

● Collaborate closely with neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, pediatric surgeons, and other specialists to provide comprehensive care.

● Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance NICU care practices.

● Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

● Stay updated with advances in neonatal medicine through continuing medical education and participation in professional organizations.


Qualifications

● Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school.

● Completion of residency training in Pediatrics followed by fellowship training in Neonatology.

● Board certification or eligibility in Neonatology.

● Proven experience as a Neonatologist or NICU Specialist, with a strong focus on critical care in newborns.

● Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practices in neonatology.
