Project Engineering Manager

Position Summary:

Lean Six Search is excited to be retained with our long-term food manufacturing client in their search for a Project Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all plant engineering activities involving capital project execution, process improvement, continuous improvement and utility systems. You’ll lead a high-performing team and collaborate closely with production, quality, and safety to ensure operational excellence in a regulated food production environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage cross-functional project teams.
  • Plan, scope, and execute capital improvement projects, from design to implementation.
  • Partner with Operations and Quality to identify and resolve production bottlenecks and efficiency challenges.
  • Drive initiatives focused on automation, equipment reliability, and energy efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machinery, utilities, process and engineering improvements.
  • Identify project phases and elements. Determine project schedules by studying project plan and specifications. Calculate time requirements by sequencing the project elements.
  • Review project proposals and plans in agreement with stakeholders.
  • Control project costs and expenditure.
  • Contribute to sustainable development initiatives and carry out energy surveys.
  • Work with external customers and contractors to resolve project issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors, equipment vendors, and service providers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for equipment, processes, and SOPs.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • 7–10 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Proven experience in project planning, equipment planning, estimations, execution, and commissioning protocols is required.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, SQF).
  • Excellent communication, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with CMMS and modern maintenance tools.
