This Role Exists Because the Business Is Changing
Our client is a large, global, asset-backed organization operating across multiple continents with a complex physical supply chain, project-driven demand, and a mix of make-to-order and make-to-stock flows.
They are profitable, well-established, and growing, but their planning, procurement, and end-to-end supply chain model has not kept pace with the ambition of the business.
This role is being created to change that.
The Mandate
We are searching for a Global Director of Supply Chain & Procurement to design, lead, and embed a modern, scalable supply chain model across a distributed global footprint.
This is not a “keep the lights on” role.
This is a transformation role focused on:
- Building a real S&OP / IBP engine
- Elevating procurement from transactional buying to strategic value creation
- Connecting demand, supply, inventory, logistics, and execution into one operating rhythm
You will sit at the intersection of commercial strategy, operations, and finance, acting as the connective tissue that allows the business to scale without breaking.
What You’ll Be Accountable For
🔹 S&OP / Integrated Planning Transformation
-
Design and lead a global S&OP (or IBP) framework that aligns demand, supply, capacity, inventory, and financial targets
-
Move the organization from reactive planning to scenario-based, data-driven decision-making
- Establish cadence, governance, and accountability across regions and functions
- Improve forecast accuracy, service levels, inventory turns, and cash performance
🔹 End-to-End Supply Chain Leadership
- Own the full supply chain lifecycle, from demand planning and sourcing through production alignment, logistics, and delivery
- Identify structural inefficiencies and redesign processes to improve lead times, reliability, and scalability
- Balance global standardization with regional flexibility
🔹 Global Procurement Strategy
-
Lead procurement as a strategic lever, not a cost-only function
- Develop category strategies, supplier segmentation, and risk mitigation frameworks
- Strengthen supplier partnerships while improving cost, quality, sustainability, and continuity of supply
- Support value engineering and long-term sourcing decisions tied to growth strategy
🔹 Cross-Functional & Change Leadership
- Act as a trusted partner to commercial, operations, finance, and technology leaders
- Drive change in an environment with legacy processes and strong regional autonomy
- Build, coach, and develop a high-caliber global team
- Define and track KPIs tied to service, cost, cash, and resilience
What Success Looks Like (18–24 Months)
- A functioning, respected S&OP process that leadership actually uses
- Clear line of sight from customer demand to operational execution
- Procurement delivering measurable value beyond price
- Improved predictability, fewer surprises, and better decision-making
-
A supply chain that is seen internally as a competitive advantage, not a bottleneck
Who This Role Is For
This role is for someone who:
-
Has led supply chain transformation, not just managed it
- Is comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure from scratch
- Can influence without authority across regions and cultures
- Understands that planning, procurement, and execution are inseparable
Background We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience
-
Demonstrated ownership of S&OP / IBP implementation or major redesign
- Senior-level experience across procurement, planning, logistics, and operations
- Strong analytical and systems orientation (ERP, planning tools, advanced analytics)
- Experience in complex, physical-product, project-influenced, or asset-heavy environments
- USA-based, with comfort leading globally
Why High-Caliber Leaders Take This Role
-
It’s a net-new leadership position with real mandate
- You’re not inheriting someone else’s mess, you’re building the future state
- Executive visibility and influence are baked in
- The scale is global, the problems are real, and the impact is measurable
-
This is a role where your fingerprints will be everywhere
Location
United States (potentially Europe for the right people, but big preference for the US)
(Exact locations shared during the process; hybrid/on-site expectation)
Search Process
This is a confidential, retained search.
Company details will be disclosed at the appropriate stage.
We are engaging selectively with senior supply chain leaders who are motivated by impact, ownership, and transformation, not titles alone.
If this reads like the role you’ve been preparing for, we should talk.
