LATAM Chief Financial Officer (CFO)


Position Summary

The LATAM CFO serves as the strategic financial leader for the region, accountable for all finance, accounting, tax, procurement, and commercial finance activities across multiple countries. This role ensures full compliance with global and regional policies while driving financial performance, commercial growth, operational efficiency, and long-term business value.


The LATAM CFO leads the development and execution of the region’s financial strategy, enabling data-driven decision making for the Board, regional leadership team, and Country Managers. The role oversees financial governance, risk management, cost optimization, commercial contract support, investment decisions, and overall financial health of the LATAM business.


Key Responsibilities


1. Strategic & Financial Leadership

  • Define and execute the financial strategy for the LATAM region aligned with global objectives.
  • Lead the Annual Budget, Forecast, and Long-Range Plan (LRP) processes across all countries.
  • Provide strategic insight on business performance, investment prioritization, commercial opportunities, and risk exposure.
  • Drive financial governance and ensure long-term sustainable value creation.


2. Core Finance Operations (FP&A, Accounting & Controllership)

  • Oversee FP&A, ensuring accurate, timely, and business-relevant reporting and forecasting.
  • Ensure full compliance and quality in Accounting, including:
  • General Ledger (GL)
  • Month-end close
  • Statutory reporting
  • Consolidation
  • Manage Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Credit & Collections to optimize cash flow and minimize financial risk.
  • Coordinate with global finance teams to ensure adherence to IFRS / US GAAP and corporate reporting standards.
  • Strengthen internal controls and ensure robust financial governance across all countries.


3. Commercial Finance & Business Partnering

  • Act as executive finance partner to the commercial organization.
  • Support pricing strategy, revenue models, margin expansion, and customer profitability analysis.
  • Lead financial review and approval of major customer contracts, including multi-year agreements and commercial negotiations.
  • Evaluate new business models, regional tenders, and commercial opportunities to ensure sustainable financial returns.


4. Regional Taxation, Treasury & Compliance

  • Oversee tax planning, transfer pricing, tax governance, and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure best-in-class treasury operations, cash management, and FX exposure mitigation.
  • Guarantee adherence to corporate governance and SOX-equivalent frameworks.


5. Operational Finance & Cost Controlling

  • Lead cost optimization initiatives (OPEX efficiency, network optimization, CAPEX discipline).
  • Direct management of:
  • P&L
  • Balance sheet
  • Working capital
  • Asset utilization
  • CAPEX planning
  • Implement strong regional financial controls ensuring transparency and agility.


6. Contract Negotiation & Risk Management

  • Represent Finance in major supplier and customer negotiations.
  • Manage legal entity governance, insurance matters, and risk assessments.
  • Oversee external auditors, tax advisors, and strategic financial partners.


7. Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Country Finance Managers and regional finance teams.
  • Foster cross-country alignment, standardization, and high-performance culture.
  • Develop succession pipelines and future finance leaders.


8. Technology, Systems & Digital Finance

  • Drive finance digitalization initiatives, SAP optimization, and automation.
  • Ensure alignment with global IT and Digital Finance strategies.

Qualifications & Experience


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • Postgraduate degree (MBA or equivalent) – desirable.

Professional Experience

  • Proven track record as Finance Director, Regional CFO, or similar executive role.
  • Minimum 8+ years of senior leadership experience.
  • Experience in multinational corporations with matrix reporting structures.
  • Strong background in commercial finance, tax governance, and contract negotiation.
  • Solid understanding of tax, labor, civil, environmental legislation, credit lines, banking processes, cost methodologies, and contractual frameworks.
  • Prior people management experience required.


Technical Skills

  • SAP proficiency.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analytics skills.
  • Strong knowledge of financial modeling, cost control, and risk management.
  • Deep understanding of international accounting standards (IFRS / US GAAP).
