About the role
The Senior Operations Supervisor (Vessel Operations) will assist in all Operations activities.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Collate daily position reports received from Head Office for all vessels within the assigned service network and ensure accurate communication with terminals and relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain and update vessel schedules, including ETA and ETD information.
• Provide short-term operational forecasts and share relevant updates with internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Ensure timely response and follow-up of operational communications.
• Prepare and distribute loading and discharge information for full and empty containers to planners, terminals, and cargo flow teams.
• Support the Operations Manager in ensuring that vessel arrival, progress, and departure reports are prepared and distributed accurately within established KPI timeframes through internal reporting systems.
• Assist in optimizing terminal resources and labor allocation based on stowage plans and operational requirements, while identifying opportunities for process improvement.
• Monitor vessel productivity and support initiatives aimed at reducing idle time during port operations.
• Coordinate with port authorities, terminals, and service providers to ensure all operational requirements are arranged prior to vessel arrival.
• Liaise with port agents and terminals regarding resource allocation, equipment requirements, and vessel call sequencing.
• Ensure loading and discharge data is accurately verified and communicated to the relevant internal departments and stakeholders.
• Prepare standardized post-operation and performance reports within established KPI timeframes.
• Coordinate with port agents to monitor vessel departure readiness and ensure all documentation and clearance requirements are completed to facilitate timely sailing.
• Coordinate the planning and execution of project cargo, breakbulk, and out-of-gauge shipments, including quotations, surveys, and operational follow-up.
• Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational procedures, systems, and productivity standards.
• Provide operational support and coverage for team members when required.
Qualifications
• Student or graduate in International Business, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
• Previous experience in the maritime, shipping, logistics, or port industry.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Availability to work flexible schedules based on vessel operational requirements.
• Availability for international travel when required.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and coordination skills.
