Senior Accounting Analyst
About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst based in Panama. This position plays a strategic role in accounting management, control, and analysis, ensuring the integrity of financial information, compliance with local accounting and tax regulations, and effective coordination with Global Business Services (GBS) teams worldwide.
What we are looking for:
The candidate will have a strong technical background in accounting under IFRS, solid knowledge of the Panamanian tax framework, and the ability to manage accounting processes executed remotely while interacting with multiple stakeholders at regional and international levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting and Operational Management
- Manage and follow up on daily accounting processes performed by GBS, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger.
- Monitor balance sheet performance and key financial KPIs.
- Perform monthly variance analyses of the balance sheet and profit and loss statement, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Review bank reconciliations and follow up on unreconciled bank items.
- Analyze the consolidation package (MGA) and intercompany reports, flagging deviations or inconsistencies.
- Control and reconcile petty cash.
- Validate the correct application of tax withholdings on corporate invoices and approve their posting.
- Review and recommend the quarterly issuance of local financial statements.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and review financial reports required by local authorities.
- Review reports prepared by GBS and ensure alignment with accounting and regulatory requirements.
- Perform monthly analytical reviews of the balance sheet and profit and loss statement.
- Tax Compliance
- Manage the preparation and filing of local tax returns.
- Stay up to date with changes in Panamanian tax regulations and coordinate their proper implementation.
- Work closely with tax advisors and external auditors during tax review and audit processes.
- Internal Control and Audit
- Perform periodic internal audits to ensure compliance with established policies and internal controls.
- Prepare the internal control questionnaire jointly with the Accounting Manager.
- Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring an efficient audit process.
- Implement recommendations aimed at continuous process improvement.
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted results, proposing corrective actions.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (mandatory).
- 4 to 5 years of progressive experience in similar accounting roles.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, internal controls, and tax compliance.
- Previous experience working with GBS or SSC models (highly valued).
- Upper-intermediate English proficiency (B2--C1), both written and spoken.
