As a Forensic Structural Engineer, you will:


  • Perform inspections of residential and commercial buildings to determine the cause of damages, which may include improper design, construction errors, storm-related damages, misuse, or lack of maintenance.


  • Enjoy the flexibility of working from your home office approximately 66% of the time and conducting site visits about 33% of the time, without the requirement of going to an office location.


  • Set your own schedule while working a 40-hour week, including travel time to sites, with only occasional overtime.


  • Conduct site visits primarily within your local area, with only occasional overnight travel required.


  • Engage in hands-on inspections involving physical activity rather than sitting at a desk all week.


  • Write professional, concise reports requiring analytical abilities.

Requirements:


  • Professional Engineer License in Structural or Civil Engineering.


  • Ability to analyze various residential and commercial building failures to determine causation.


  • Ability to write professional, concise reports.


  • Experience with any of the following: forensic engineering, residential construction, commercial construction, code enforcement, code inspection, roofing, facilities maintenance, materials testing, home inspections, expert witness testimony, residential design, or storm damage assessments.


Ability to conduct inspections requiring climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, working on rooftops, etc.
