JOB OVERVIEW

Seeking an experienced Top Out Lead to oversee and execute top-out operations in wind energy construction projects. This role requires strong leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to safety and excellence in every aspect of the job. The ideal candidate will have expertise in crane signaling, major component exchanges, and uptower assistance for new construction and repower projects.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Crane Signaling & Communication – Direct and coordinate with crane operators to ensure safe and efficient lifts.
  • Top-Out Operations – Guide and assist in the precise installation of turbine components.
  • New Construction & Repower Work – Execute crane-assisted installations and upgrades with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.
  • Major Component Exchange – Support gearbox, generator, and blade replacements, ensuring seamless crane operations.
  • Uptower Assistance – Provide hands-on support in the nacelle and tower while maintaining a focus on safety and teamwork.
  • Rotating Equipment Handling – Perform disassembly, reassembly, and alignment of rotating equipment within wind turbine nacelles.
  • Welding & Cutting – Operate oxygen/acetylene torches and arc welding equipment for on-site component modifications when needed.
  • Tool Utilization – Utilize pneumatic tools, precision instruments, and shop power tools to execute tasks with precision and accuracy.
  • Heavy Rigging & Material Handling – Work with rigging equipment, hoists, and material handling systems for safe and efficient component movement.
  • Safety & Compliance – Strict adherence to the highest industry safety standards is required, ensuring a culture of safety for the entire crew.
  • Leadership & Teamwork – Foster a collaborative and professional environment, mentoring team members, and ensuring clear communication.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving – Respond to project demands with flexibility and a solutions-driven mindset.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in top-out operations within wind energy construction.
  • Strong background in crane signaling, communication, and major component exchanges.
  • Experience with rotating equipment, welding, heavy rigging, and power tools in an industrial or wind energy setting.
  • Deep understanding of wind energy construction safety protocols and ability to implement them in daily operations.
  • Excellent team leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
