WTR Search - Renewables has partnered with an industry-leading energy company to locate a traveling Operations Support Technician. This position is based in Texas and will require travel up to 90% of the time to support other wind farms in the region. Relocation assistance is available.
This position works alongside a team of highly trained professionals to maintain wind facilities with a strong focus on major component replacement and preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting, retrofitting, and maintenance for optimal performance
- Travel to other company sites in the region to perform specialized repairs and major component exchanges
- Maintain strict safety protocols, including hazard assessments and PPE compliance
- Provide Root Cause Analysis support for diagnosing equipment failures and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Tool and documentation management to maintain efficiency and adherence to industry standards
- Troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and/or retrofit low to medium-voltage electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic components/equipment associated with wind turbines and the wind farm
- Perform preventative maintenance activities safely and efficiently on wind turbines and associated equipment located on the wind farm
Requirements
- Three or more years of hands-on experience as a Wind Technician
- Hands-on expertise with major turbine components, rigging, and various hand/power tools
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills
- Flexibility to work overtime and on rotating shifts as required
- Maintain required training certifications and qualifications
- Ability to safely travel to the wind farm within 45 minutes in the event of an emergency
- Comfortable with travel (50%–85%), working at heights, and managing adverse weather conditions
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and eligibility for a U.S. passport
