Financial Accounting Manager – Part Time (2 Days per Week)

£80,000 FTE + benefits (pro rata) | Part-time | Permanent | Office-based


OVERVIEW

AtkinsClarke are seeking a Financial Accounting Manager to join a high-growth, PE-backed group on a part-time basis (2 days per week). Working closely with the Group Financial Controller, this is a newy created and pivotal role designed to strengthen the organisation’s technical accounting expertise, support reporting accuracy, and ensure compliance within a complex and evolving group structure.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a practice background who enjoys working as a technical expert and wants to play a key role without committing to a full-time position.

With continued acquisition activity and investment in systems and structure, the organisation is scaling quickly into a multi-entity, complex environment. Finance plays a critical role in supporting this growth, and this position will sit at the heart of technical accounting, governance, and external reporting.


OPPORTUNITY

As Financial Accounting Manager, you’ll become the go-to person for all technical accounting, reporting and compliance matters. You’ll take ownership of the year-end process and act as the main point of contact for the external auditors, ensuring accuracy, clarity and consistency across the Group.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning and leading the annual statutory accounts process
  • Acting as primary point of contact for external auditors
  • Advising on technical accounting matters under UK GAAP / IFRS
  • Reviewing and strengthening accounting policies and controls
  • Supporting the Group Financial Controller on complex reporting issues
  • Advising on accounting implications of acquisitions and restructuring
  • Keeping the business up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations
  • Acting as technical support to the wider finance function

This is a hands-on, specialist role with high visibility and real influence.


PERSON

You’ll be a fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with a strong practice-trained background, ideally within Top 10 or mid-tier audit / advisory.

You will bring:

  • Deep technical knowledge of UK GAAP and / or IFRS
  • Strong year-end and statutory reporting experience
  • Proven ability to manage external auditors
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset
  • Confidence working autonomously in a senior advisory capacity
  • Experience within PE-backed or acquisitive environments (desirable)
  • Availability to work 2 days per week in the office
