The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Team Lead, this position is responsible for the accurate, timely, and confidential processing of payroll across multiple entities and provinces.

Responsibilities
- Process high-volume bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll across multiple provinces.
- Ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with company policies, employment standards, and collective agreements.
- Prepare and process payroll deductions, remittances, and reporting requirements.
- Verify payroll data and conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and special payroll payments as required.
- Administer Records of Employment (ROEs) and other payroll documentation.
- Review and reconcile employee benefit deductions and related reporting.
- Prepare remittances for unions, CRA, WCB, pension plans, and other statutory requirements.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and provide support to operational teams regarding payroll-related matters.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with all payroll legislation and internal policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience processing high-volume payroll within a unionized environment.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards, statutory remittances, and collective agreement administration.
- Experience interpreting and applying collective agreements in a payroll capacity.
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now (WFN); experience with Workforce Manager is considered an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to payroll accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional, discreet, and capable of handling highly confidential information.
- Experience with benefits administration and payroll reconciliations is considered an asset.
