THE ROLE

Our client is a well-established and growing equipment rental and services company with operations across Western Canada. Known for their customer-first approach, collaborative culture, and operational excellence, they have built a strong reputation within the construction and industrial sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a Junior Accountant to their Richmond-based team.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in accounting within a stable and team-oriented environment. The Junior Accountant position has a strong Accounts Receivable and billing focus while also providing exposure to reconciliations, transactional accounting, and general office administration.


The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, customer-service focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment. This role would suit someone who enjoys structure, consistency, and being an important support person across the accounting and operations teams.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Receivable & Billing

  • Process daily progress billing and assist with rental contract invoicing and contract closures
  • Manage incoming credit card payments, deposits, EFTs, e-transfers, and cheque payments
  • Create deposits, issue credits and refunds, and respond to customer account inquiries
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding outstanding balances and account updates
  • Make outbound collection and follow-up calls while maintaining detailed notes and communication records
  • Track open COD contracts and verify deposit amounts within the rental system

Accounting Support

  • Assist with monthly bank and VISA reconciliations and discrepancy investigations
  • Support Accounts Payable with invoice processing and other ad-hoc accounting tasks
  • Record simple accounting transactions and recurring monthly journal entries
  • Assist with prepaid expense and insurance expense entries
  • Support the accounting team with general administrative and reporting tasks

Office & Administrative Support

  • Provide phone and reception coverage as required
  • Respond to customer calls, emails, and inquiries professionally and efficiently
  • Monitor shared inboxes and distribute accounting-related communications appropriately
  • Assist with filing and maintaining organized documentation


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Billing, or Junior Accountant positions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to professionally handle collections and account inquiries
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • General understanding of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and cash application processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems is considered an asset
  • Experience with Point of Rental (POR), Great Plains, Helcim, or Moneris is considered an asset


WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Full-time, in-office role based in Richmond, BC
  • Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm
  • Occasional additional hours may be required during peak periods
