Contract (April - September) Full-Time | On-Site | $25-$30/hour

THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a private educational institution to recruit a Design Assistant based at their campus in Tsawwassen, BC.

The school does small to large renovations and classroom upgrades over the summer every year. Also, at the moment, they are working on a brand new 6-storey building (75,000sq ft) connected to their current campus.


As a member of the Facilities team, and reporting to the Director of Buildings and Grounds, you will play an integral role in supporting the planning, documentation, and implementation of interior spaces across campus.


This position offers a unique opportunity for an Interior Design student to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world environment, contributing to a significant campus development project. Key Responsibilities


●     Generate and maintain a comprehensive Master Furniture Specification that reflects current inventory and new acquisitions

●     Produce accurate scale drawings and space plans using AutoCAD software

●     Update product and space plans to support furniture installation and ensure clear communication with the Facilities team

●     Ensure designs are compatible with site requirements, including power and data locations

●     Review completed installations with installers to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications

●     Assist with organizing and maintaining detailed project documentation and records

●     Collaborate with architects, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support coordination of project timelines

●     Support the Facilities team with additional design-related and documentation tasks as required

 

Qualifications


●     Currently enrolled in an Interior Design program or related field

●     Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD (required)

●     Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (required)

●     Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical documents

●     Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

●     Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation

●     Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively with diverse teams

●     Ability to lift up to 25–30 lbs as required

●     Must be available to work onsite in Tsawwassen, Monday to Friday, from May 2026 through September 2026
