THE ROLE
STRIVE is working with a well-established and reputable company in search of a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. In this permanent, full-time role, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide range of heavy equipment, including riggers, loaders and excavators.
This is an ideal opportunity for a 421A certified mechanic who has strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills and enjoys working independently in a dynamic, field-based environment. While based out of Hamilton, 60% of your time will be spent on the out-of-town projects. We're looking for candidates with at least 2 years of hands-on experience working with heavy-duty equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform repairs, inspections, and routine maintenance on a variety of construction equipment, including drilling rigs, excavators, loaders, and small equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electronic controls, and electrical components
- Carry out preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation and safety compliance
- Complete detailed maintenance records, service reports, and work orders accurately and on time
- Work closely with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient service and support
- Travel to job sites to perform servicing and minor repairs as needed
- Work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting heavy machinery.
- Completion of the 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
- Minimum 2 years of practical, hands‑on work with heavy equipment service and repair.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, equipment and vehicle electronics, and electrical systems.
- Valid G-class driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to reliably commute or relocate before starting work.
- Occasional shift work required (12-8 or weekends) but normal hours are 7-5.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
