THE ROLE
Our client is a fast-growing, privately held investment and advisory firm supporting a dynamic portfolio of U.S.-based companies. They are currently seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join their Vancouver team in a full-time, permanent capacity. This role has an emphasis on managing month-end and year-end processes, preparing financial statements, and supporting senior leadership with financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly organized, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Conduct bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes with accurate data and analysis.
- Assist with audits by preparing working papers, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with U.S. portfolio companies to provide timely financial insights.
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff as required.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within investment, advisory, or multi-entity environments.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (minimum 2 years hands-on experience).
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Enrolment in or completion of the CPA designation program is strongly preferred.
- Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis).
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audits.
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work with cross-border teams.
