THE ROLE

The job is on the day shift and is ideal for those looking for a medium-sized manufacturing plant. This position is ideal for someone who is a supervisor in a mechanic shop or dealership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise daily paint shop operations, including surface preparation, priming, painting, curing, and final finishing
  • Lead, train, and motivate paint technicians to meet production targets and quality standards
  • Ensure all paint work meets Wilcox Bodies Limited quality specifications and customer requirements
  • Plan and assign work based on production schedules, priorities, and manpower availability
  • Monitor paint application techniques, material usage, and equipment performance to minimize waste and rework
  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling of paints, solvents, and hazardous materials
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks; address defects and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and improve processes
  • Maintain accurate records related to production output, material usage, and safety compliance
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and process optimization
  • Assist with performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as required
  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in industrial painting is an asset
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in industrial or automotive painting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of paint systems, coatings, surface preparation, and finishing techniques
  • Experience with spray booths, curing systems, and paint mixing processes
  • Familiarity with workplace safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret production drawings and specifications
