The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Inventory Manager to oversee both new and used inventory. This role is key to maintaining the financial health of the organization by optimizing inventory levels, minimizing costs, and maximizing profitability. The ideal candidate will focus on aged used equipment, monitor market trends, make informed purchasing decisions, and develop wholesale and retail strategies to ensure inventory efficiency and turnover.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain appropriate new inventory levels to meet customer demand while managing interest costs and cash exposure.
- Optimize used inventory levels to meet demand, maximize turns, and reduce financial risk.
- Evaluate and approve trades, particularly high-value equipment, ensuring efficient reconditioning and maximum profitability.
- Manage the re-marketing strategy for used equipment, including wholesale and retail sales.
- Cultivate and grow relationships with wholesale customers.
- Develop strategies to improve aged inventory metrics, including write-downs and turnover rates.
- Set lease rates, residuals, and rental rates according to corporate guidelines.
- Provide comprehensive inventory reporting, focusing on cash exposure, balance sheet health, and inventory turnover.
- Collaborate with management to implement systems that efficiently manage inventory, sales activity, and customer interactions.
- Monitor key metrics such as aging, interest expense, cash tied up, and sales-to-close ratios.
- Perform other duties as required within the scope of the role.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in business, marketing, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, or inventory management.
- Strong organizational, strategic planning, and implementation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple platforms.
- Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with colleagues, business partners, and customers.
- Strong decision-making abilities and confidence in providing direction.
- Understanding of financial reports, budgets, and inventory-related metrics.
- Proficient with computer applications (Office Suite, Adobe, PowerPoint, email).
