The Role
Our client, a respected organization in the social services sector, is seeking a Legal Assistant for a 3–4 week temporary assignment, with the potential for extension. This position provides administrative and legal support to the Legal Unit, ensuring the smooth coordination of documentation, scheduling, and communications related to family law matters.

Responsibilities
- Provide legal, administrative, and clerical support to the Legal Unit
- Prepare, edit, and format affidavits, correspondence, court documents, and filings
- Coordinate service and filing of legal documents with courts, counsel, and process servers
- Maintain accurate and organized legal files and ensure documentation is up to date
- Support the preparation of materials for court, including trial records, affidavits, and exhibits
- Track and diarize key legal deadlines, court appearances, and review dates
- Liaise with social workers, lawyers, and other internal staff to provide file updates or required information
- Perform general administrative duties such as word processing, photocopying, and maintaining databases and filing systems
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive legal information
Requirements
- Paralegal Diploma, Legal Assistant/Secretarial Diploma, or equivalent education
- Minimum of 3–5 years of administrative legal support experience, preferably in family law
- Strong knowledge of legal procedures, court filing processes, and document preparation
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with legal databases or case management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
