The Role
Our client is a well-established organization with a strong presence in Burlington, known for its collaborative and supportive team environment. They are currently seeking a Staffing Accountant to join their team on a 6+ month maternity leave contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking for long-term contract stability while gaining hands-on experience in a busy and well-structured finance department.
The Staffing Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on payroll-related accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
This is a full-time, fully in-office position based in Burlington, working Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities
- Support payroll accounting processes, including reconciliations and accruals
- Prepare and post journal entries related to payroll, benefits, and staffing costs
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of staffing and labor-related expenses
- Support invoicing, billing, and cost allocations related to staffing operations
- Assist with statutory remittances and government reporting as required
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company policies
- Collaborate closely with payroll, HR, and finance teams
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as required
Requirements
- 2–4+ years of experience in full cycle accounting, or a related role
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Comfortable working with deadlines and confidential information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; ERP experience is an asset
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Previous experience supporting payroll or staffing-related accounting is a strong asset
