THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Machine Operator to join our production team. The successful candidate will operate both a plate rolling machine and an ironworker machine to produce high-quality steel components according to engineering drawings and shop specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate a plate rolling machine to form cylinders, cones, and custom radii from steel plate.
• Operate an ironworker machine to punch, shear, notch, and bend flat bar, angle, and plate.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, cut lists, and material specifications.
• Set up machines, change tooling, and adjust for thickness, diameter, and hole size requirements.
• Measure and verify workpieces using calipers, tape measures, and other precision tools to ensure tolerances are met.
• Safely move raw materials and finished parts using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other handling equipment.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, report malfunctions, and ensure a clean and safe work area.
• Work with welders, fitters, and supervisors to ensure production schedules are met.

QUALIFICATIONS

• MUST have experience operating plate rollers and/or ironworker machines in a fabrication shop.
• Knowledge of steel grades, thicknesses, and forming characteristics
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
• Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
• Forklift or overhead crane certification an asset.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods in a shop environment.
