RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Set up and prepare all coating operations, including material handling, mixing, equipment maintenance, and cleanup.
  • Interpret and follow work instructions, technical drawings, customer specifications, and manufacturer data sheets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and mask metal components for coating as required by project specifications.
  • Inspect parts for cleanliness and properly prepare surfaces through cleaning, sanding, or other pre-coating methods.
  • Accurately mix and apply high-performance coatings in line with manufacturer and customer requirements.
  • Conduct paint thickness tests and produce necessary test coupons to verify coating integrity.
  • Perform inspections and testing to confirm compliance with quality and customer standards.
  • Utilize precision gauges and measuring tools to inspect finished work.
  • Identify and apply proper paint mixing, spray, and application techniques to achieve consistent finishes.
  • Understand the impact of fluid tips, mix ratios, and spray pressure on coating quality and adjust accordingly.
  • Monitor supply levels and provide input for ordering and maintaining inventory to meet production demands.
  • Complete all required process documentation, including batch logs, travelers, and coating thickness reports.
  • Handle, label, store, and dispose of hazardous paint materials in compliance with regulations.
  • Perform and record rework operations as necessary to meet quality standards.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and attendance requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and environmental standards.


REQUIRMENTS

• 3 – 5 years of hands-on painting experience is preferred

• Experience using a spray gun (ie. Conventional, pressure pot, HVLP, airless, air brush, etc.) is required

• Experience using equipment such as ultrasonic thickness gauge, paint shaker, mixer, abrasive grit blaster, drying oven, etc. is required

• Experience in the Aerospace or Auto body industry is an asset

• Experience with the following processes is an asset: chemical cleaning, abrasive surface prep, masking, spray high-performance coating

• Good manual dexterity

• Excellent attention to detail skills

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

• Ability to work with minimal supervision

• Ability to multitask

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook and Excel)
