The Role
Our client is located in Montreal and is a large global steel manufacturing company looking for a Technical Regional Manager, having Engineering or Project Management experience, to oversee the specifications set by the client through drawings and AutoCAD and ensure a prompt delivery to the client's projects in the construction, oil and gas, forestry, and mining sectors. The right candidate must be bilingual in both French and English and have the flexibility to travel to the US for sales meetings. This position is an in-office position, verifying the production and quality assurance of the materials ordered by clients, as well as having regular in-person meetings with clients to follow up on project completion and potential business opportunities.
The position directly reports to the Area Sales Manager of Canada and is responsible for implementing best practices, value-added management, maintaining existing relationships, tracking KPIs, and looking after the company's profitability.
This position is fully on-site, providing flexibility when needing to cover days from home, Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This position covers Eastern Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the preparation of engineering-related drawings, technical documentation, specifications, and project reports.
- Conduct research and gather information to support unique initiatives and special assignments.
- Collaborate closely with internal sales staff, regional managers, design teams, and department leaders.
- Maintain regular updates on project status, timelines, and progress.
- Review existing and proposed component costs alongside regional leadership.
- Ensure customer requirements are being met while collecting market and customer insights to support future planning, product development, and forecasting.
- Provide prompt and accurate updates regarding competitor offerings, pricing trends, and market activity to support pricing decisions and business strategy.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of operational procedures and quality standards.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and performance.
- Help identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical challenges during product development and manufacturing stages.
- Support product trials, testing activities, and the introduction of strategic materials or offerings.
- Review manufacturing capabilities, equipment constraints, and operational limitations to ensure project feasibility.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in sales or manufacturing, with strong technical knowledge in steel, mining, industrial, recycling, or maintenance repair industries; includes supervisory and technical experience.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, as well as commanding organizational skills to look after multiple projects.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience in drawings, working with templates, and a basic understanding and interest in CAD and nesting software.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Strong analytical skills, exceptional judgment, dependable, excellent teamwork skills, good time management skills, able to delegate, creative, problem-solving, hardworking & persistent, professional competence, proactive.
- Entrepreneurial and must have the ability to develop business, sales, and marketing plans.
- Current/active driver’s license.
Compensation & Perks:
- $110,000 to $120,000+ depending on experience
