THE ROLE

Our client is currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Temporary Accountant to support their finance department on a 2-month contract. This is a full-time, on-site role where you'll play a critical part in managing month-end close, financial reporting, government filings, and union remittances.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a CPA-designated professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and can hit the ground running. You'll be working closely with a collaborative finance team, including AP, AR, the Team Lead, Finance Manager, and Corporate Controller.

This is a project-based contract with no long-term growth opportunity but offers immediate impact and visibility within the organization.

Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting:

• Lead and execute month-end close activities
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports
• Support internal and external reporting requirements

Process Improvement & Analysis:

• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes
• Provide insights and recommendations for greater efficiency

Union & Government Filings:

• Manage union remittances and related reporting
• Prepare and submit tax filings and other government documentation

General Accounting:

• Maintain GL integrity and ensure compliance with accounting standards
• Assist with audit preparation and supporting schedules

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of progressive accounting experience
• CPA designation is desired
• Experience in unionized environments and government filings is essential
• Proficiency with SAGE 300 accounting software is a must
• Strong understanding of Canadian tax regulations and compliance
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver under tight deadlines
• Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills
• Must be comfortable jumping into a fast-moving environment with minimal hand-holding
