THE ROLE
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for managing and developing the company’s business within assigned key accounts, with a focus on meeting and exceeding sales targets. This role oversees the full sales process, from prospecting and lead generation to closing deals, while ensuring customer satisfaction. The primary goal is to achieve revenue targets and contribute to the overall growth and success of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain strategic, long-term relationships with high-volume clients to drive organic growth.
- Build strong relationships with existing clients to ensure loyalty and satisfaction.
- Conduct market research to identify potential clients and analyze market trends and competitor activities.
- Develop and implement sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed revenue goals.
- Collaborate with marketing to create targeted campaigns and promotions.
- Coordinate with finance, operations, and other departments to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
- Track and analyze sales performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of sales strategies.
- Prepare regular reports on sales activities, achievements, and challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, contracts, and customer interactions.
- Identify and suggest solutions that meet clients’ needs and preferences.
- Ensure timely delivery of products and act as a primary contact for key customers.
- Resolve customer complaints effectively and respectfully.
- Gather, report, and communicate customer feedback to improve services and products.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.
- Foster a customer-centric approach within the sales team.
- Uphold high ethical standards and transparency in all client interactions.
REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, or a relevant discipline, or equivalent market experience.
- Proven experience in sales and account management, preferably in the food service sector.
- 5–10 years of progressive sales experience in a similar-sized operation is preferred.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and able to learn other business systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to delegate tasks and hold team members accountable.
- Effective presentation and negotiation skills.
- Long-term vision with the ability to align sales strategies with business goals.
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Successful completion of a criminal and financial background check prior to hire.
