Gaming Account Lead (Director)
The Gaming Account Lead serves as the strategic and operational lead across key video game publisher accounts, with full ownership of media strategy, planning, execution oversight, and client partnership.
This role is responsible for delivering high-impact, performance-driven digital media programs that drive measurable business outcomes, while maintaining senior-level relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in gaming and digital media, with a strong ability to translate strategic vision into actionable, results-oriented campaigns across PC, console, and live-service ecosystems.
Core Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Client Partnership
- Act as the primary strategic lead across gaming accounts, providing regular updates to senior leadership on performance, insights, and growth opportunities
- Develop and own full-funnel media strategies aligned to client objectives (e.g., awareness, wishlist acquisition, pre-orders, launch, and live-service engagement)
- Serve as the senior point of contact for clients, fostering trusted partnerships through clear, insight-driven communication
- Lead all client-facing engagements, including presentations, status meetings, and performance reviews, ensuring alignment and strategic clarity
Media Planning & Execution Oversight
- Lead end-to-end digital media planning and execution, developing data-driven strategies that maximize performance and impact
- Define channel strategy and investment allocation across key platforms (e.g., video, social, programmatic, endemic gaming partners)
- Oversee campaign setup, trafficking, and tracking in collaboration with internal teams and external partners
- Ensure consistent performance monitoring, optimization, and reporting across all campaigns
Vendor & Partnership Management
- Partner with media vendors to develop innovative, customized opportunities that differentiate client campaigns
- Lead negotiations to secure favorable rates, added value, and strategic packages
- Cultivate and expand relationships with key media partners and platforms
Operational Excellence
- Drive efficient internal workflows while maintaining a high standard of quality and accountability
- Partner with finance and billing teams to ensure accurate invoicing and timely reconciliation
- Develop clear, executive-ready materials (PowerPoint, Excel) that effectively communicate strategy, performance, and recommendations
Business Development & Industry Leadership
- Identify emerging trends, platforms, and opportunities within gaming and digital media to inform strategy and innovation
- Contribute to new business efforts, including pitch development and strategic recommendations
- Maintain a strong understanding of the gaming landscape, including competitive titles, audience behaviors, and platform evolution
Managerial Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor Assistant Media Planners, ensuring high-quality output and effective execution
- Provide clear direction, prioritization, and context across all delegated work
- Review deliverables to ensure accuracy, strategic alignment, and overall quality
Training & Mentorship
- Design and implement training initiatives to strengthen team capabilities, including:
- Media fundamentals and terminology
- Digital strategy and planning principles
- Platform tools, trafficking, and tracking systems (e.g., UTMs, Gamesight)
- Mentor team members to develop both technical expertise and strategic thinking
Team Communication & Culture
- Maintain consistent communication with direct reports on account status, priorities, and internal updates
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team environment
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of experience in digital media planning, with a focus on gaming, entertainment, or related industries
- Demonstrated success leading client accounts and executing integrated media campaigns
- Strong negotiation skills with established vendor relationships
- Deep understanding of performance metrics (CTR, CVR, VTR, CPA, etc.) and optimization strategies
- Experience managing and developing junior team members
- Proficiency with media platforms and tools (e.g., GCM, paid social platforms, tracking solutions such as Gamesight)
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
