Mount Indie is hiring a Junior level PowerBI Developer / Data Scientist to join a team providing remote support to the Defense Manpower Data Center. We're looking for someone who can provide data visualization and dashboard design using Power BI. This role requires a current DoD Secret clearance.

​​Responsibilities:

• Data Visualization & Dashboard Design: Create insightful Power BI dashboards that effectively communicate data insights through compelling visuals and intuitive layouts. This includes selecting appropriate chart types, color palettes, and design elements to maximize clarity and engagement.
• UI/UX Optimization: Ensure a seamless and user-friendly experience for all dashboard users. Conduct user testing and gather feedback to continuously improve the design and usability of Power BI reports.
• Data Storytelling: Transform raw data into compelling narratives using effective visual communication techniques. Focus on creating dashboards that not only display data but also tell a clear and engaging story.
• Quality: Maintain consistent branding and visual style across all Power BI dashboards, adhering to company guidelines and design standards.
• Daily Data Refresh & Validation: Ensure key dashboards are updated with accurate data.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Monitor dashboards for data anomalies.
• Ad-Hoc Reporting & Analysis: Fulfill urgent data requests from stakeholders by creating targeted reports and performing quick data analyses.
• Data Dictionary Management: Create and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries for all Power BI datasets and reports, ensuring clear understanding of data definitions and sources.
• Jira Documentation: Document all report changes, data issues, and resolutions within Jira tickets, following established documentation standards.

Daily Task:

• Refresh & Verify: Refresh data and validate accuracy.
• Monitor Alerts: Review and investigate dashboard issues/alerts.
• Design Review: Dedicate time to reviewing the visual effectiveness of existing dashboards. Identify areas for improvement in layout, color scheme, chart selection, and overall aesthetic appeal.
• UI/UX Review: Review existing dashboards to identify areas for improvement in UI/UX design, focusing on readability, visual clarity, and user experience.
• Triage Visualization Requests: Prioritize ad-hoc visualization requests, focusing on projects that will have the greatest impact on visual clarity and user engagement.
• Documentation: Update Jira with design changes and feedback.
• Data Dictionary Updates: Update data dictionaries as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Current DoD Secret Clearance or higher
• 1 year of relevant experience to include:
• Experience with Power BI Data Visualization
• Data analytics, modeling and ETL experience.
• A strong eye for design and aesthetics with a deep understanding of visual design principles (color theory, typography, layout, etc.).
• Proven ability to create visually appealing and user-friendly dashboards that tell a story with data.
• Experience using Jira for documentation and issue tracking.

Preferred Skills

• Expert in Power BI data visualization techniques.
• Strong Power BI development skills (DAX, Power Query).
• Familiarity with data dictionary concepts and creation.​
