Summary
We are seeking an experienced Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Architect to provide hands-on technical guidance and architectural support for enterprise Linux and OpenShift infrastructure initiatives. This remote engagement is scoped for 2,496 hours over an 18-month period and requires a resource who can start immediately. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in RHEL and OpenShift infrastructure, providing day-to-day assistance, recommendations, and technical leadership as the customer prepares to implement Kubernetes capabilities and migrate workloads to OpenShift. This role will support a small technical team by providing advanced Linux expertise, best practices, and ongoing mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and recommendations for RHEL and OpenShift infrastructure environments.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for enterprise Linux architecture, administration, and optimization.
- Support the customer’s transition toward Kubernetes adoption and migration to Red Hat OpenShift.
- Assist with OpenShift infrastructure planning, implementation strategies, and operational best practices.
- Develop and recommend architecture solutions aligned with customer requirements and enterprise standards.
- Provide guidance on RHEL configuration, system administration, security, and performance optimization.
- Support infrastructure design decisions related to Linux platforms and containerized environments.
- Troubleshoot complex RHEL and OpenShift issues and provide root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with a small technical team to transfer knowledge, improve capabilities, and establish best practices.
- Provide recommendations for platform improvements, automation opportunities, and operational efficiencies.
- Assist with planning, preparation, and execution activities related to Kubernetes and OpenShift implementation.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience architecting and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Significant hands-on experience with OpenShift infrastructure and enterprise container platforms.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts and OpenShift architecture.
- Experience supporting OpenShift implementations, migrations, and infrastructure planning.
- Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise Linux solutions.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, recommendations, and mentorship to teams with varying levels of Linux expertise.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in a remote consulting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Hat certifications such as RHCE, RHCSA, Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, or related certifications.
- Experience with large-scale enterprise or government environments.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
- Experience supporting Kubernetes platform migrations or modernization efforts.
- Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure, DevOps practices, and container lifecycle management.
