Position Summary

As an A&P Mechanic III, you will be responsible for the repair, replacement, and maintenance of key aircraft components. You will perform the necessary checks on the mechanical and functional components of aircraft, including testing and replacing defective or faulty parts.You will use a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose parts requiring replacement and ensure repairs and maintenance are compliant with national and international standards.This role also requires maintaining safety and cleanliness within the hangar or workshop environment.

You will demonstrate knowledge in one of the three main components of aviation maintenance, including airframe maintenance, powerplant mechanics, or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) components.


Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, replacement, and maintenance of aircraft components
  • Conduct inspections and checks on mechanical and functional aircraft systems
  • Test and replace defective or faulty parts as required
  • Utilize a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair aircraft systems
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet national and international aviation standards
  • Maintain safety, organization, and cleanliness within the hangar or workshop
  • Apply knowledge in airframe maintenance, powerplant mechanics, or combined A&P maintenance disciplines

Physical / Mental / Emotional Requirements

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs and steps
  • Frequently repeat the same hand, arm, and finger motions, requiring finger and hand dexterity
  • Frequently use vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and color differentiation
  • Frequently use hearing abilities including discerning different tones and volumes
  • Frequently lift or carry up to 50 pounds

Working Conditions

  • Frequently exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain, snow, etc.)
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials
  • Frequently exposed to loud noise environments

Safety Sensitive Position

This is a safety-sensitive position responsible for the safety or security of people or property. Responsibilities may include:

  • Inspecting, handling, or transporting explosives, dangerous, or hazardous materials
  • Inspecting structures, equipment, or vehicles
  • Performing aviation-related duties
  • Operating or supervising vehicles, heavy equipment, or potentially dangerous machinery


Required Skills

  • Typically 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A higher-level degree may substitute for experience
  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of the required education
  • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations
  • Reliable transportation to and from work locations
  • Must have personal tools in good working order
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English
  • Ability to pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and other technical publications
  • Advanced skills in repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines


Preferred

  • FAA Repair Station and/or Quality Assurance experience
  • Ability to travel regularly and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS)
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the U.S. Department of Defense, or U.S. Military
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required
