We are seeking an experienced Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) Senior Consultant for a 1,000-hour remote engagement. The role will focus on designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions across infrastructure, patching, compliance, vulnerability remediation, and IBM Storage Scale environments.

This consultant will work closely with technical stakeholders to define automation use cases, develop AAP workflows and execution environments, establish security guardrails, and create self-service capabilities for end users. The engagement includes an 8-week onboarding period, and a drug screen is required.

What You’ll Do

Automation Development

• Conduct use case and user story design sessions to develop automation roadmaps and sprint definitions.
• Develop automation solutions using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for:
• Server decommissioning
• BMC ticket remediation, including UNIFY and CIS Benchmark-related issues
• Tenant vulnerability exceptions
• Configuration drift detection and remediation against CIS Benchmarks
• Primary/secondary site switching for discrete filesets in IBM Storage Scale
• IBM Storage Scale failover and failback/recovery workflows
• RHEL-side updates through Red Hat Satellite
• Pre-patch snapshot workflows and automated cleanup
• Compliance re-scans following system patching and reboot
• Build and verify AAP Execution Environments, including required Ansible collections.
• Create user-facing surveys in AAP Controller.
• Develop AAP Workflows with conditional logic to orchestrate multiple automation processes.
• Develop automation to open pre-approved ServiceNow Change Requests, capture execution data, update required fields, and close requests upon completion.
• Integrate AAP automation with BMC REST APIs to mute monitoring alerts during patch windows and enforce compliance rescans.
• Define and implement VM permission mapping using CMDB data, tags, or AAP Inventory RBAC.

Architecture & Documentation

• Review, revise, and document the IBM Storage Scale Failover Self-Service Architecture and Design.
• Assess current IBM Storage Scale cluster configurations, including tenant fileset replication and Cluster Export Services.
• Review current Splunk indexing and source mappings.
• Document and evaluate failover/failback state, data consistency checks, and permissions models.
• Define blocklists and concurrent patching limits to protect infrastructure performance.

Workshops & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Facilitate technical workshops and design discussions with infrastructure, security, and application stakeholders.
• Define security boundaries, responsibility logic, safety guardrails, and technical sign-off requirements for:
• VM patching
• API endpoints
• AAP workflows and workflow state
• Ticket/change management
• Automated remediation
• Develop standardized ServiceNow tickets and Change Requests to support end-user self-service automation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into actionable automation solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Senior-level experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
• Strong hands-on experience developing Ansible automation and AAP Workflows.
• Experience building and managing AAP Execution Environments and Ansible Collections.
• Experience integrating automation platforms with REST APIs.
• Experience with ServiceNow ticketing and Change Request workflows.
• Experience with infrastructure patching, configuration management, and compliance automation.
• Experience developing automation with conditional logic and multi-step workflows.
• Strong technical documentation, communication, and workshop facilitation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote consulting environment.
