Mount Indie is seeking a senior-level Systems Architect to provide technical leadership for next-generation high-speed modem solutions supporting space-based optical communications. This individual will act as a technical lead across multiple engineering disciplines, driving modem architecture, requirements development, system performance, and customer engagement.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience with high-speed modem design, FPGA development, digital signal processing, and system-level architecture. This is a highly visible leadership role without direct reports but requires influencing and coordinating firmware, software, and hardware engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and development of high-speed modem solutions supporting optical communications and spaceflight applications.
- Translate customer requirements into technical solutions and assess feasibility and performance tradeoffs.
- Collaborate closely with Optical Systems Engineers and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Provide technical leadership across firmware, software, FPGA, and modem development efforts.
- Guide engineering teams on implementation priorities and technical execution.
- Support customer-facing technical discussions and requirements development activities.
- Participate in system modeling, simulation, and performance analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience with high-speed modem architecture and design
- Strong FPGA development experience
- Experience with Verilog
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP) expertise
- Systems engineering and architecture experience
- Experience translating customer requirements into technical solutions
- Proven technical leadership experience
- Experience with MATLAB and/or Python modeling and simulation
Preferred Qualifications
- Optical communications experience
- Space or satellite communications experience
- High-speed ASIC experience
- Active Top Secret Clearance
- Experience supporting government or defense customers
