Position Summary
We are seeking a Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) Senior Consultant to support a global customer engagement focused on migrating virtual machine workloads from VMware vSphere and/or Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.
This is a 100% remote position and will operate as part of a 24x7 follow-the-sun support model, with coverage and handoffs coordinated across regional consulting teams. This position specifically requires the consultant to work within the Australian (AUS) time zone to support customer needs and provide continuity between global teams.
The consultant will work under the direction of SS&C, supporting migration activities, customer technical needs, troubleshooting, and ongoing Day-2 operations. The role will serve as a technical resource for OpenShift Virtualization and MTV, helping customers plan and execute VM migrations while providing expertise across OpenShift, virtualization, networking, storage, Linux, Windows, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, deploy, configure, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) in bare-metal, on-premises data center environments.
- Plan and execute VM workload migrations from VMware vSphere and/or Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) to OpenShift Virtualization using Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV).
- Develop and execute migration workflows, including workload discovery, planning, migration, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Leverage Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and/or Python to automate migration activities and supporting infrastructure at scale.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across networking, storage, virtualization, Linux/Windows workloads, and application integration.
- Serve as a technical SME for OpenShift Virtualization and VM migration best practices.
- Mentor and enable customer teams on Day-2 operations, administration, troubleshooting, and ongoing management of OpenShift Virtualization environments.
- Support customer-facing technical discussions and communicate migration status, issues, risks, and recommendations.
- Participate in a 24x7 follow-the-sun support model, providing effective handoffs and knowledge transfer between regional teams.
- Follow established processes for task coordination, customer support response, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).
- Strong experience with OpenShift Virtualization.
- Hands-on experience with Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) and VM migration workflows.
- Experience migrating workloads from VMware vSphere and/or Red Hat Virtualization (RHV).
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes, containers, and Linux.
- Experience supporting Windows workloads in virtualized environments.
- Experience with virtualization infrastructure, including networking and storage.
- Experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and/or Python.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience working in a customer-facing consulting environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across distributed technical teams and time zones.
- Must be able to work within the Australian (AUS) time zone.
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Hat certifications related to OpenShift, OpenShift Virtualization, or Linux.
- Experience with enterprise-scale VM migration projects.
- Experience with OpenShift Virtualization Day-2 operations.
- Experience administering OCP on bare-metal, on-premises infrastructure.
- Experience automating infrastructure or migration activities at scale.
- Previous experience working as a Red Hat consultant or Red Hat Premier Partner consultant.
