Mount Indie is hiring for a cleared, mid-level Software Engineer to support a government client. The Mid-Level Software Engineer designs, develops, enhances, and maintains software applications and systems supporting mission-critical government programs. This role analyzes user and system requirements and applies software engineering, computer science, and technical principles to develop effective and scalable solutions. The engineer will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including designing and implementing new capabilities, troubleshooting and improving existing applications, integrating software with hardware and other systems, and supporting database development and maintenance. The role works collaboratively with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet functional, performance, and security requirements.

Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs.
- Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
- Update software or enhance existing software capabilities.
- May work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems and develop specifications and performance requirements.
- May maintain databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of relevant experience, including but not limited to:
- Proficiency in at least one major language (Python, Java, C#, JavaScript)
- Experience translating requirements into technical solutions
- Experience in research, design, and development of software
- Experience with testing, deployment, and maintenance
- Experience developing system specifications and performance requirements
- Experience with database design and maintenance
- Experience in code reviews
- Understanding of system integration (hardware/software interaction)
Desired Skills:
- Provides ongoing support for existing platforms, manages customization, and maintains documentation.
- Creates advanced finds, dashboards, and workflows.
- Validates all user inputs prior to adding to back-end.
- Generates architectural diagrams and additional documentation as necessary.
- Provides support for SQL server databases.
- Provides gap analysis and recommends solutions that account for NGA operational tempo and security constraints.
- Knowledge and usage of Sprints within JIRA
Clearance Requirement:
- TS/SCI with willingness to take CI Poly
