Mount Indie is seeking a Structural Engineer to provide technical design support for NAVFAC Southeast in Jacksonville, Florida. This role is responsible for the design, analysis, and review of new construction, repair, and renovation projects for Navy and Marine Corps facilities, and requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs that meet NAVFAC and DoD standards.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide specialized structural engineering support for the planning, design, and construction of Navy and Marine Corps facilities.
  • Prepare and review structural calculations, design analyses, specifications, and construction drawings for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures.
  • Support development of project scopes, design documentation, and cost estimates for MILCON, facility repair, and renovation projects.
  • Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and structural condition evaluations to identify required repairs or modifications.
  • Review design-build packages, contractor submittals, and shop drawings for technical accuracy and compliance with NAVFAC and UFC criteria.
  • Coordinate structural design with architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
  • Apply current Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), DoD, and ASCE standards to design deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering studies.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including RFI responses, design clarifications, and on-site problem resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain NACI/CAC eligibility required.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing detailed analyses, drawings, and cost estimates for DoD, NAVFAC, or large-scale commercial facilities.
  • Proficient with structural modeling software (STAAD Pro, SAP2000, RAM).
  • Knowledge of DoD and Navy design standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), ASCE 7, IBC, and other federal design requirements.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local codes and regulations related to building and structural design.
  • Experience with project budgeting, scheduling, and multi-discipline coordination.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering from an ABET-accredited program required; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of structural engineering design experience, including at least 1 year on Federal or DoD projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk (AutoCAD/Revit), Microsoft Office, and structural analysis software (STAAD Pro, RAM, SAP2000).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and crouch, and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, and phone.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone.

PAY

  • $65.00 - $77.00 / Hour
