Title: Claims Specialist
Company: Our client is a well-established independent insurance agency located in Cedar Knolls, NJ.
Compensation: $70,000 – $90,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
Job Location: Cedar Knolls, NJ — Preferred 4 days per week on-site
Role Summary:
As a Claims Specialist, you will serve as the primary advocate for our client’s policyholders, managing claims across multiple lines of coverage from first notice of loss through final resolution. You will work directly with clients, carrier adjusters, and internal account teams — keeping files moving, navigating coverage issues, and fighting for the best possible outcome on every claim.
You will bring 5–8 years of claims experience from an independent agency, third-party administrator, or third-party claims management environment. You are comfortable managing a high volume of open matters across varied lines of business, and you take pride in being the person clients rely on when a claim gets complicated.
Responsibilities:
• Manage assigned claims from first notice of loss through resolution, serving as the primary contact for clients at every stage.
• Monitor claim status with carriers and adjusters, and follow up proactively to keep files moving toward resolution.
• Identify and work through coverage issues, and negotiate with carriers when positions require client advocacy.
• Maintain accurate claim records, diary notes, and file documentation in AMS360 in accordance with best practices.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with clients, account executives, and carrier representatives on status and strategy.
• Conduct claim reviews and analyze liability and damages to support informed advocacy on behalf of clients.
Qualifications:
• 5–8 years of claims experience in an independent insurance agency, third-party administrator, or third-party claims management company.
• Hands-on experience across multiple lines of coverage, including general liability, property, auto, or workers’ compensation.
• Strong client service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and manage expectations in complex claim situations.
• Solid understanding of insurance coverage concepts, policy language, and carrier claim procedures.
• Proficiency in AMS360 agency management system is strongly preferred.
• United States Citizen; must be authorized to work without employer sponsorship.
