Location:  Livingston, NJ


Our client, a successful independent insurance agency, is seeking a skilled Small Business Commercial Lines Team Manager to lead their Small Commercial Lines team. This individual will provide critical underwriting and procedural guidance, oversee the marketing of new and renewal business, and manage a select portfolio of VIP clients. The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial property and casualty insurance and is adept at both client relations and team leadership.


Position Overview:

The Small Business Commercial Lines Team Manager will play a key role in the agency, guiding a team of insurance professionals and ensuring the successful marketing and servicing of accounts with premiums up to $100,000. In this role, you will work directly with high-value clients, providing tailored risk management solutions, and assist in developing the agency’s small business offerings. You will also provide leadership and support to the team, ensuring adherence to agency procedures and timelines. This position requires an understanding of both property and casualty insurance and agency management systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide underwriting guidance to the Small Business Team, ensuring they adhere to best practices and agency standards.
  • Market new business opportunities and complex accounts, working directly with the agency’s executive team.
  • Manage and service a select book of VIP clients, coordinating with other departments to resolve client needs.
  • Develop and implement small business procedures, including underwriting information gathering, submission creation, and coverage comparison.
  • Monitor and assign team workloads based on individual skill sets, ensuring timely completion of renewals and new business opportunities.
  • Train and mentor new team members, ensuring their successful integration and performance within the agency.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing a team of insurance professionals in a commercial property and casualty setting.
  • In-depth understanding of underwriting, marketing, and servicing of small business insurance accounts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Applied EPIC Agency Management System.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-first attitude.
  • Property & Casualty Insurance License required; professional designations (ARM, CIC, CPCU) preferred.


Compensation:

This position offers a competitive base salary, commissions, and generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Additional perks include 20 days of PTO and a 401(k) plan.


Work Arrangement:

The role is primarily office-based, with the opportunity to work one day remotely.
