Role Summary
Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their accounting team in Livingston, NJ. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who is not only technically strong, but also a forward thinker and a change agent. You will help drive process improvements and operational efficiencies across the accounting function, working collaboratively with the broader finance and business teams. You will handle core accounting responsibilities including financial reporting, general ledger management, and reconciliations, while also serving as a contributor to process optimization initiatives. The role reports to the Controller and operates on a hybrid schedule — four days per week on-site in Livingston, NJ, with one day remote.
Compensation & Benefits
• Base salary: $90,000 – $115,000 per year, commensurate with experience

What You Will Be Doing
• Preparing, reviewing, and reconciling financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy across all accounts
• Maintaining the general ledger and performing month-end and year-end close activities, including bank reconciliations
• Supporting internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
• Investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies in a timely and thorough manner
• Contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking in partnership with department leaders
• Identifying opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve operational efficiency, bringing ideas and helping lead implementation
What Our Client Is Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required)
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience with strong working knowledge of GAAP
• A forward-thinking mindset — you actively look for ways to improve processes and bring fresh ideas to the team
• Outgoing, collaborative style with the ability to build relationships across both the accounting team and the broader organization
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information clearly
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard accounting software; experience with Applied Epic is a plus, though not required — candidates from outside the insurance industry are encouraged to apply
