Compensation: $125,000 – $137,000 Base Salary + Discretionary Bonus


Job Overview

Our client, a high-performing independent insurance brokerage based in Livingston, NJ, is seeking an experienced Senior Account Executive – Employee Benefits to join their growing organization.

This is a senior-level, client-facing leadership role focused primarily on mid-to-large, self-funded and self-insured group health plans. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in alternative funding strategies, strong executive presence, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-performance culture where accountability and results matter.

The Senior Account Executive will serve as the primary strategic advisor to C-suite executives and HR leadership teams, leading renewal strategy, financial analysis, vendor management, and long-term benefits planning initiatives. This position requires strong technical knowledge of employee benefits compliance, funding models, and market trends, along with the ability to proactively drive retention and revenue growth.

This role requires four days per week in the Livingston, NJ office.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of mid-to-large employee benefits clients
  • Lead strategic renewal meetings, executive presentations, and funding discussions
  • Provide expertise in self-funded/self-insured health plans, including stop-loss placement and claims utilization analysis
  • Develop proactive recommendations regarding cost drivers, funding strategies, and long-term financial planning
  • Collaborate with carriers and third-party administrators to resolve escalated service issues and negotiate competitive renewals
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities to expand client relationships and support revenue growth
  • Partner with producers and leadership to design tailored benefit strategies and proposals
  • Provide mentorship and share market knowledge, regulatory updates, and best practices with internal teams


Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of employee benefits experience within an insurance brokerage environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in self-funded/self-insured health plans (required)
  • Strong knowledge of group benefits products, funding models, and compliance requirements including ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA
  • Valid Life & Health Insurance License (required)
  • Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Applied Epic preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a high-performance, deadline-driven environment
