Job Summary

Seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to support hardware and environmental testing activities for advanced defense-related systems and components. This role focuses on mechanical and environmental qualification testing, data acquisition and analysis, instrumentation planning, and technical documentation in a hands-on laboratory and test environment.

The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to support testing activities throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform instrumentation planning and execution of hardware and environmental testing activities
  • Support vibration, mechanical shock, thermal, humidity, altitude, and structural testing
  • Conduct dynamic and thermal data acquisition and analysis
  • Coordinate and support test fixture design activities
  • Prepare test plans, schedules, procedures, reports, and technical documentation
  • Generate detailed technical reports for archival and customer review
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and external stakeholders
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for test programs
  • Support factory and supplier testing both domestically and internationally
  • Travel to customer sites, supplier facilities, and government locations as required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or another STEM-related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in a laboratory/test environment
  • Experience supporting hardware or environmental testing activities
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Active Confidential clearance or higher required at start
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with environmental testing including:
  • Vibration testing
  • Mechanical shock testing
  • Thermal testing
  • Structural testing
  • Experience with:
  • Data acquisition systems
  • Signal processing
  • Test instrumentation
  • Structural analysis/testing
  • Experience with CAD tools such as Creo or equivalent
  • Experience using MATLAB
  • Experience presenting technical information to customers
  • Ability to work in collaborative engineering environments

Additional Information

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Domestic travel required
  • Contractor must be eligible to support defense-related programs
  • Active security clearance required prior to start
