Compensation: $29.00 to $32.00 per hour
Employment Type: Contract with potential to extend or convert to perm (Depends on performance and business needs)

Work Setting: Primarily onsite at construction jobsites, with some service opportunities
Travel: Occasional local/regional travel, including occasional overnight stays

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Journeyman for commercial and industrial construction work within the Mobile, AL area. This role is ideal for a skilled electrical tradesperson who can install, troubleshoot, test, and support startup of electrical systems while working safely and professionally on active jobsites.
This position works under the direction of an Electrical Superintendent and requires someone who can perform electrical work independently, support project milestones, coordinate with other trades, and help mentor apprentices. Key Responsibilities
- Install conduit, cable tray, wiring, panels, switchgear, transformers, lighting, controls, and associated electrical equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and identify corrective actions.
- Perform testing, startup assistance, and commissioning support.
- Coordinate work activities with Superintendents, Project Managers, customers, and other trades.
- Maintain accurate material inventory and communicate shortages.
- Support project schedules and milestone completion requirements.
- Perform quality electrical installations that meet project specifications, NEC requirements, and workmanship standards.
- Follow OSHA, company, customer, and jobsite safety requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Apprentice Development and Mentorship
- Work directly with apprentices to teach trade skills, safety practices, and installation methods.
- Serve as a positive role model through professionalism and workmanship.
- Assist the Superintendent in training and developing less-experienced employees.
- Help create a learning environment that supports apprentice growth and long-term success.
- Support the development of future electricians and field leaders.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of commercial or industrial electrical experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC requirements, and construction practices.
- Experience with conduit installation, wire pulling, terminations, controls, and equipment installation.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, including occasional overnight stays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, climbing, and lifting.
