Job Title: Maintenance Machinist / Machine Shop Technician

Location: Baraboo, WI

Compensation: $44.00+/hour (based on experience)

Schedule:

  • 12-hour rotating shifts supporting a 24/7 continuous operation.
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
  • Rotating 2-2-3 schedule with every other weekend off.
  • Includes holiday, weekend, and overtime coverage as required by production needs.
  • Schedule rotates between crews to maintain continuous plant operations.


Position Summary

Seeking experienced Maintenance Machinists to join a manufacturing machine shop team supporting high-speed production operations. This role is responsible for rebuilding, repairing, overhauling, fabricating, and installing manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong machining, fabrication, welding, and mechanical troubleshooting skills and be capable of working independently on complex equipment repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rebuild, repair, and overhaul manufacturing production equipment
  • Layout and install machinery and mechanical systems
  • Fabricate, repair, and modify machine components and assemblies
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and technical specifications
  • Manufacture replacement parts and perform precision machining operations
  • Repair and maintain conveyors, palletizers, elevators, cableways, and related equipment
  • Operate machine shop equipment and various hand and power tools
  • Determine proper machine setups, tooling, speeds, feeds, lubricants, and tolerances
  • Perform precision alignment, timing, and synchronization of mechanical assemblies
  • Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects
  • Follow all plant safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Strong machining and machine repair experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Ability to operate manual machine shop equipment including lathes and mills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of machining tolerances, cutting tools, materials, speeds, and feeds
  • Experience rebuilding and repairing industrial production equipment
  • Ability to work independently and determine efficient machining and repair methods
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in an industrial environment
  • Ability to work either day or night shift as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree or Machine Tool Technology training
  • Welding and fabrication experience (MIG, TIG, Stick)
  • Experience rebuilding worn machine components through weld build-up and machining
  • Experience in food processing, packaging, can manufacturing, paper, beverage, or other heavy industrial environments
  • Millwright, Maintenance Machinist, Tool & Die, or Machine Repair background

Work Environment

  • Industrial manufacturing facility
  • Exposure to machinery, noise, vibration, heat, cold, and industrial chemicals
  • Requires climbing ladders and working around production equipment
  • PPE required, including eye and hearing protection
  • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout procedures required
