Industrial Maintenance Shift Lead– 2nd Shift

Schedule: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM (Monday–Friday with weekend availability if needed for emergencies)
Pay Range: $42.00–$48.00 per hour (Full-time, on-site)
Summary:
We’re seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Shift Lead to lead and support our 2nd-shift maintenance team in a high-speed food and beverage manufacturing environment. This working-lead role provides technical direction, performs hands-on troubleshooting, and ensures safe, reliable plant operations with a strong emphasis on food safety and equipment uptime. The ideal candidate brings experience in dairy or beverage (liquid) processing, PLC troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide shift leadership to maintenance technicians, overseeing work order planning, execution, and safe work practices.
• Troubleshoot and repair production and facility equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, packaging systems, and high-speed filling or processing lines.
• Perform PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley preferred) to identify electrical and control issues; programming ability is a plus but not required.
• Support and maintain equipment such as boilers, air compressors, ammonia and glycol refrigeration systems, and HVAC units.
• Develop and improve preventive maintenance programs for existing and new equipment.
• Partner with production leadership to minimize downtime and coordinate shift coverage.
• Maintain compliance with SQF, HACCP, FSMA, GMP, and other food safety standards.
• Provide on-call support for technical issues or emergency breakdowns as needed.
• Lead 5S and shop organization efforts; maintain CMMS documentation for all maintenance activity.
• Assist in technician training, job evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean or TPM principles.
• Collaborate with Parts Specialists to manage spare parts inventory and ordering.
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate/technical degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in food, beverage, or dairy manufacturing environments (liquid processing preferred) with at least 2 years of leadership, management, or supervisory experience.
• Proven troubleshooting experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, VFDs, sensors, relays, and control circuits.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics.
• Experience with CMMS, workflow planning, and work order tracking.
• Familiarity with boilers, compressors, refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
• Welding/fabrication (MIG/TIG) skills strongly preferred.
• Prior lead or supervisory experience in a manufacturing or maintenance setting preferred.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, or cover other shifts when required.
Physical Requirements:
• Regular standing, climbing, bending, and reaching required; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, and elevated noise levels.
• Comfortable working at heights with fall protection and LOTO compliance.
